The text is the sum of the experiences of the three authors in the teaching of Theoretical Mechanics for more than fifty years in various faculties of Engineering. It relies, in part, the content in the text: PG Bordoni, Rational Mechanics Lessons, Zanichelli, 1999 have been restated to merge with those of the text: P. Benvenuti - G. Male, Notes of Rational Mechanics Lessons, Kappa , 2002. to accomplish this, some parts were added, missing in both texts, in order to make uniform text and, as far as possible, complete a course of Bachelor degree.
Pietro Benvenuti (1933-2002), Professor of Theoretical Mechanics Professor of Mechanical Engineering has held courses Rational, Mathematical Physics, Analysis, Functional Analysis. His fields of research were different but mainly focused on information theory.
Piero Giorgio Bordoni (1915-2009), Professor of Theoretical Mechanics held the Mechanics courses Rational, Mathematical Physics. His fields of research were different but mainly concerned the leakage of elastic energy; Bordoni discovered the effect in 1952.
Giovanni Maschio, Associate Professor of Theoretical Mechanics held the Mechanics courses Rational, Analytical Mechanics. His fields of research were different but mainly focused on the application of information theory to statistical mechanics; currently he deals with the writing of mathematics for the blind and visually impaired.
